App Name: Verdora: Plant ID & Care ("Verdora")
Operated By: Sirish Shrestha and Manjina Karmacharya
1. Introduction
Verdora: Plant ID & Care ("Verdora," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you use our mobile application ("App"). Sirish Shrestha and Manjina Karmacharya are the operators responsible for this processing.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
A. Account Information
When you create an account, sign in, or update your profile, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Basic profile information, such as display name and garden name
B. Plant & App Data
- Plant names, species details, nicknames, locations, and notes you enter
- Care schedules, reminders, and activity history
- Photos you upload, albums you create, photo dates, plant tags, care event tags, and related gallery metadata
- Settings, preferences, feature consents, plan limits, Health Scan credit balances, entitlement status, and app usage needed to enforce free or paid feature limits
C. Location Data
If you choose to enable location services, Verdora asks for your permission before collecting:
- Approximate or precise coordinates from your device
- Derived city, state, and country information
- When you use location-based features, this location data may be shared with Google Maps to show nearby plant stores and with WeatherAPI.com to provide weather data and plant advisories
You can disable location access anytime in device settings.
D. Technical & Service Data
We may collect:
- Server logs such as IP address, request metadata, user agent, and timestamps
- Authentication and session records needed to verify sign-in and keep your account active
E. Purchase, Subscription & Entitlement Data
If paid features are available in your app version or region, purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We and our service provider RevenueCat may process information needed to manage purchases and entitlements, such as:
- App-store product identifiers, purchase status, renewal status, expiration dates, refund or revocation status, and transaction-related identifiers
- RevenueCat customer identifiers and entitlement status used to unlock Premium features, Garden Pack capacity, Health Scan Packs, ad removal, or other paid features
- Usage counts for plan limits, such as plants, active reminders, gallery photos, AI-assisted plant additions, Health Scan credits, and custom task categories
We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
F. Advertising, Tracking & Consent Data
Verdora may show third-party ads to users who do not have an ad-free entitlement. For ads, Google Mobile Ads may process data such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers where permitted, advertising data such as ads shown or interacted with, product interaction data, diagnostics, and consent status. On iOS, Verdora may request App Tracking Transparency permission before initializing advertising services. If you deny tracking permission, Verdora remains usable and ads may still be shown in a non-personalized or limited form depending on consent and ad settings.
G. Support Data
- Support messages, subject lines, and contact email you provide
- Optional debug information you choose to send, such as platform, OS version, app version, build number, execution environment, and device name
H. AI Feature Data
- Before photo-based plant identification is used, Verdora asks for your permission to send the selected plant image and basic technical file metadata to Pl@ntNet and, when needed, Google Gemini to identify the plant and return likely matches.
- Before AI care suggestions are used, Verdora asks for your permission to send plant species information associated with the selected plant, such as plant name and scientific name, to Google Gemini to generate AI care suggestions and companion plant recommendations.
- Before AI Health Scan is used, Verdora asks for separate permission to send the selected plant image and relevant context to Google Gemini. Context may include plant and scientific names, indoor/outdoor placement, rounded coordinates, city/region/country, time zone, current weather and forecast data, compact details from up to three previous scans, and details from up to five enabled applicable reminders that are current or ended within the previous 30 days. Reminder details may include the task and reminder names, enabled status, schedule, and time zone.
- AI Health Scan does not send your account identity, email, plant notes, elevation, full activity history, raw previous AI output, or previous scan images. Verdora retains a compressed scan-history image and deletes the diagnostic working image after processing.
- In the current version, uploaded plant images, notes, and personalized placement details are not sent to Google Gemini for AI care suggestions.
- If you later turn AI care suggestions off, Verdora will not send new AI care requests to Google Gemini, but previously generated care info already available in Verdora may still be shown.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information in the following ways:
- Directly from you: when you register, sign in, edit your profile or garden name, add or edit plants, upload photos, create reminders, change settings, or contact support.
- From your device, with your permission: when you enable location access, Verdora requests your current or last known device location and may reverse geocode it into city, state, and country. When you enable reminder notifications, notification permission is requested on your device.
- Automatically when you use the app: when your device communicates with our backend, we receive technical information such as IP address, request metadata, user agent, timestamps, and authentication/session records needed to operate the service securely.
- From third-party services you choose to use: when you sign in with Google or Apple via Firebase Authentication; when you use Nearby Stores through Google Maps; when you load weather and plant advisories through WeatherAPI.com; when you send a support message delivered by Resend; and when you use AI features that send limited data to Pl@ntNet and, when needed, Google Gemini.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Authenticate your account and keep you signed in
- Provide plant care reminders, notifications, and related features
- Store and manage your plant data
- Identify plants from submitted photos when you choose to use that feature
- Generate AI care suggestions and companion plant recommendations
- Provide optional AI Health Scores, visible plant-health assessments, possible causes, recommended actions, reminder reviews, and scan history
- Provide location-based features such as nearby plant stores, weather, and plant advisories
- Manage subscriptions, one-time purchases, paid features, free plan limits, early-user allowances, and entitlement transitions
- Display, limit, measure, and improve third-party ads for users who do not have an ad-free entitlement
- Respond to support requests
- Communicate important updates
- Maintain app security and prevent abuse
We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on local law, using advertising identifiers for personalized advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing." Where required, Verdora provides consent or opt-out controls through the App, device settings, or Google's consent tools.
5. Third-Party Services
We may use trusted third-party services, such as:
- Firebase Authentication and supported sign-in providers such as Google and Apple
- Google Maps for nearby plant store discovery
- WeatherAPI.com for weather data and plant advisories
- Resend for support email delivery
- Pl@ntNet for plant photo identification
- Google Gemini for AI-assisted plant identification fallback, care suggestions, companion plant recommendations, and optional AI Health Scans
- Apple and Google for in-app purchases, subscriptions, purchase management, and refund handling
- RevenueCat for purchase validation, subscription status, entitlement management, purchase restoration, and related webhook processing
- Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform for third-party advertising, ad measurement, consent collection, and ad personalization choices where available
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. Verdora uses a paid Gemini API service. Under Google's current paid-service terms, submitted prompts, files, and responses are not used to improve Google's products, although Google may process or retain limited data for service operation, safety, security, and abuse prevention as described in its terms.
Data sent to a provider may be processed or stored in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on provider contractual commitments and recognized safeguards for international transfers. Once data is sent to a provider, that provider's documented retention and deletion practices also apply.
Any third party with whom we share user data is required to provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable App Store guidelines.
Relevant provider policies may include:
6. AI Features
Photo Plant Identification
If you choose to identify a plant from a photo, Verdora asks for your permission in the app before sending the selected image and basic technical file metadata to Pl@ntNet and, when needed, Google Gemini to identify the plant and return likely matches. This feature is optional, and you can continue using Verdora by searching and adding plants manually without using image identification.
AI Care Suggestions
Before AI care suggestions are used, Verdora asks for your permission in the app before sending plant species information associated with the selected plant, such as plant name and scientific name, to Google Gemini. In the current version, uploaded plant images, notes, and personalized placement details are not sent for AI care suggestions. If you later turn AI care suggestions off, Verdora will not send new AI care requests to Google Gemini, but previously generated care info already available in Verdora may still be shown.
AI Health Scan
AI Health Scan is separately optional. With your permission, Verdora sends the selected current photo and the limited contextual data described above to Google Gemini to assess visible plant health and suggest care actions. A scan may include compact details from up to three earlier scans and up to five enabled applicable reminders that are current or ended within the previous 30 days, but not earlier images. Turning permission off prevents new scans; it does not automatically erase previous scan history. You can delete an individual scan in the App or request account deletion.
You can revoke photo identification, AI care, or AI Health Scan permission anytime in Profile > Settings. Revocation stops new requests for the relevant feature but does not delete results already saved to your account. When enabled in future versions, additional personalized inputs will be used only after updated disclosure and, where required, additional consent.
7. Purchases, Plans, Ads & Entitlements
Verdora may offer free and paid features depending on your app version, region, account status, and availability. Paid features may include auto-renewable Premium subscriptions, one-time capacity purchases such as Garden Packs, ad-free entitlements, higher plan limits, Gallery Timeline, custom task categories, or other features shown in the app.
We use purchase and entitlement data to unlock or restrict features, restore purchases, prevent abuse, provide customer support, and maintain accurate account status. Existing or early users may receive preserved allowances based on prior usage or account status.
8. Advertising & Tracking Choices
Verdora may display banner or interstitial ads to users who do not have an ad-free entitlement. Ads are provided by Google Mobile Ads and may be subject to Google consent flows and your device privacy settings.
On iOS, you can control tracking permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt or your device settings. You may also use Apple and Google privacy controls where available. Denying tracking permission does not prevent you from using Verdora.
9. Data Storage & Security
We implement reasonable security measures, including:
- Secure authentication systems
- Encrypted data transmission
- Access controls
No system is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
10. Data Retention
Account, plant, reminder, gallery, and successful Health Scan records are generally retained while your account is active so that you can use history and tracking features. A compressed Health Scan history image and its assessment remain until you delete that scan, its plant, or your account. Temporary diagnostic working images are deleted after a scan completes or permanently fails.
When you delete an individual Health Scan, Verdora removes its retained image, assessment, and linked AI reminders from active systems. When you delete a plant or account, associated content is removed from active Verdora systems as described on our Data Deletion page. Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 days before being overwritten, or longer where retention is legally required.
Purchase, subscription, entitlement, security, and transaction-related records may be retained as needed for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and restoring access to paid features.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your location and the purpose of processing, Verdora relies on your consent, performance of the service you request, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, or compliance with legal obligations.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent (where applicable)
- Receive a portable copy of eligible data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Complain to an applicable privacy authority
To make a request, contact us at the email below or visit our Data Deletion page.
12. Children’s Privacy
Verdora is intended for users Age 14+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users below this age. If we become aware of such data, we will take steps to delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted in the App (or related pages) with a revised effective date. Continued use after updates means acceptance of the revised Policy.
